Contributed Papers

Papers are invited in the form of regular manuscripts. There is no separate short paper format. Papers must conform to the submission policy, detailed on the conference web page. All manuscripts should be written in English, be in a 2-column format, and be 6–8 pages in length, with additional page charges applicable for pages 7 and 8 (USD 200 each).

Invited Sessions

Invited sessions consist of 6 papers presenting a unifying theme from a diversity of viewpoints. Proposals must clearly describe the motivation and relevance of the session. Proposals must be accompanied by full versions of each paper, which will be individually reviewed together with the proposal itself. Each proposal should consist of a summary statement and six regular papers (not abstracts). The organizer notifies Contributing Authors (CAs) of their invited session code. The corresponding author of each paper submits the paper online (PDF format) as an invited paper. Submission as an invited paper requires the invited session code.

Guidelines for Invited Sessions:

    1. Session proposals have no page length requirement, but are typically in the 2-6 page (single column) range. Reviewers appreciate concise documents.
    2. In the introduction, proposals should tell the reviewers why the topic is relevant to the controls and ACC communities (i.e., the topic should be clearly motivated).
    3. An objective should be clearly stated, that is, an explanation of what is meant to be accomplished by organizing this session.
    4. Following the introduction, the organization of the session should be described. List the 6 papers, and their authors, to be included, explain briefly what they are about and why they are included. Discuss briefly how these 6 papers comprise an interesting and cohesive session on the topic.
    5. References should be included as needed. Figures are optional but may be included as desired.
    6. After submitting your Invited Session proposal, you will be given a session code. All authors in your session should submit their papers using this session code. Session organizers must submit their proposals with enough advance time so that authors have time to submit their papers before the deadline.

NOTE: All Invited Session papers will be reviewed individually, using the same process as for regular paper submissions. It is possible that the session may be accepted, but not all of the associated papers are accepted. In this case, your session will be filled with submitted papers which will be assigned by the Program Committee.

For more information on invited sessions please contact the Vice Chair for Invited Sessions: Aranya Chakrabortty ([email protected]).

Tutorial Sessions

Tutorial sessions are a type of invited session intended to provide an accessible introduction to a topic of general interest. All tutorial presentations must be a multiple of 20 minutes long, with the total session time not to exceed 2 hours. A lead tutorial presentation, at least 40 minutes long, is strongly encouraged. Papers are optional, but if submitted must undergo the standard review process. Lead tutorial papers may be up to 16 pages long. All other tutorial papers are subject to the same page limits as contributed papers. Tutorial sessions involving strong industry and academic collaboration are highly encouraged.

For more information on industry & application tutorial sessions please the Vice Chair for Industry & Applications: Stefano Di Cairano ([email protected]).

Special Sessions

Special sessions are focused events to spotlight emerging research areas, funding opportunities, and other topics of broad interest to the conference attendees. Examples include industry-led, research sponsor-led, education-themed, and history sessions. Special sessions usually do not include presentations of papers that are peer-reviewed and included in the conference proceedings.

A special session proposal would entail the session title, a half page description including objectives and motivation, and names and bios of speakers.

For more information, or to discuss possible special session topics, please contact the Vice Chair for Special Sessions: Rafael Fierro ([email protected]).

Workshops

Workshops to be held prior to the conference are solicited on all related topics. Proposals for workshops addressing novel control methodologies and nonstandard control applications, as well as workshops with strong tutorial value are encouraged.

For more information, or to discuss possible workshops topics, please contact the Workshop Chair: Wei Zhang ([email protected]).

Exhibits

Exhibitors are invited to showcase, demonstrate and market control-related publications, software tools, prototypes, educational products, services, and jobs. Exhibits are open throughout the conference to all attendees of the ACC.

For more information, or to discuss possible workshops topics, please contact the Exhibits Chair: Dennis Williams ([email protected]).

Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the ACC 2019 and present their work.
